Today is mothers day so here are some songs from some rappers who had their mother in mind when they wrote these songs. Happy Mother’s Day to every mother out there.

Hey Mama – Kanye West

Kanye dedicated this song from Late Registration to his mom. He talks about her guidance in his life. Through his wordplay he recalls memories of being young and his mother taking care of him. He sings her praises and tells her he’s gonna do everything he can. “Now I feel like there’s things I gotta get, things I gotta do just to prove to you, you were getting through” Kanye loved his mom, the late Donde West, God rest her soul and let her have a happy mothers day. “It don’t gotta be mother’s day, or your birthday, for me to call and say, Hey Mama”

Headlights – Eminem

After a long battle with his mom through life and pubically through his music. Things changed on MMLP2, Eminem recalls all the songs he’s made in spite of her, and apologizes. He tells how he really took out his anger at life, like his dad leaving and such, out on her. After being through his problems, he understands hers, and is sorry. Eminem shows he’s realized his mom has really only tried to be there and is sorry for the fighting throughout the years. Happy mothers day Debbie Mathers “But regardless I don’t hate you. Cause ma, you’re still beautful to me, cause you’re my mom”

I Miss You – DMX ft. Faith Evans

DMX spits bars about missing his Grandmother. Reminiscing on old memories of his upbringing with her. The hook even sings “She used to tell me that…Baby it’s gon’ be okay” The video shows him talking to her casket and letting her know of what’s going on. He talks of wanting another hug, waiting to see her again. DMX went deep for this record and on Mothers day it couldn’t be more appropriate.

Dear Mama – 2Pac

2Pac talked abut how his mom had him at 17, and they were living on the streets. He talks about how he and his sister would bond over being mad at their mom for no dad being there. He describes growing up poor and how his mom had to hustle and job to provide a life for him and his sister. 2Pac didn’t have his dad and was raised by his mom and the streets. He expresses his appreciation for everything his mother did for him, raising him as ” a bad kid” he says, “But now the road got rough, you’re alone/ You’re trying to raise 2 bad kids on your own”

Hopefully you are able to spend today with your mother and show her your appreciation. Mothers do so much that we don’t even ask for. Happy Mother’s day to all you hard working beautiful ladies!
