“The title “Turn Me Up” comes from wanting people to listen his music and literally wanting them to turn up their speakers and soak the product in. Whether through headphones, in the V, in the club, Shaun just wants the listener to take the tunes for what it is!”

The album has a total of 10 tracks with production from Andre Fennell, Jonny Benjamin, and more. The direction of the album goes from being in a relationship, adoring the one you’re with, and embracing the bachelor life. With songs like “Make Love”, “Lullaby”, “I’m In Love”, “Do You Think Of Me”, to name a few spotlight tracks. Shaun surely has no problem singing about what feels at that moment, what he has experienced or seen in the dating world. Being in the midst of ‘cuffing’ season’ this album can be played for such ‘situationship’ or even add to your Valentine’s Day playlist.

Describe the process of working on your recent project ‘Turn Me Up’, what is your favorite track and why?

The process of working on my most recent project ‘Turn Me Up’ was a slow yet methodical process. I took up to almost a year to come up with all of the songs because I wanted my debut project to be just right. I wanted to make sure I added diversity to this project but still stay true to my sound. I made sure that I touched many bases on this project. From love, to sex, to even songs that give you a sense of encouragement. I made sure there were slow songs for when you’re with your significant other, and fast uptempo songs for when you just want to dance and turn up. My favorite song on this project would have to be “Sparks Fly”simply because it’s a song everyone can connect with and relate to.

If you could collaborate with anyone in the industry who would it be and why, whether it’s songwriting or a feature? Who are you listening to right now?
If I could collaborate with anyone in the industry right now I would have to say Drake, Tank, and Kendrick Lamar. Drake simply because his music is so relatable whether male or female. He knows how to keep his music relevant while using his own experiences. Tank because vocally he is one of the best singers ever and has written for so many artists that I would literally sit, watch, and learn. Kendrick because he’s not afraid to think outside the box and his creativity is remarkable. He’s a musical genius.
What are pros and cons of being an upcoming singer? Would you like to get a major deal or remain independent?
The pros and cons of being an upcoming singer are endless but here are a few. I would have to say the pros are you’re a breath of fresh air to the music world, you have a chance to bring something different to the table that no one has seen before, and you get to show the true essence of yourself in your music. The cons would be that your following isn’t as big as major artists so your platform is much smaller, your budget is at a limit because there is no big label backing you, and last but not least people are so stuck on what they’re used to that they’re not always interested in listening to something new. As far as me wanting to get a major deal or remain independent depends on the situation and circumstance. Ideally I would remain independent and build it up on my own but if a major label presents a situation where they can support me financially and market me globally while allowing me to keep my creativity I would have to strongly consider it.
