To be completely honest, I didn’t watch much of the 57th annual Grammy’s. I’m usually one to give a play by play analysis (on twitter) of everything thats going on, from wardrobe and hairstyles, to performances and funny looks. What I didn’t miss was the hilarity happening on social media with the outrageous memes.

This time around though there were only a few moments that I was really focused on. First off for the last few years my nephew (Wiz Khalifa) has been nominated for a grammy and yet to bring one home, so that was a big reason I wanted to watch. Secondly, there are always surprises such as wardrobe malfunctions, hilarious jokes, or performances that people would wait all year to see.
For the first time since he made his unforgettable interruption, Kanye West was present. Mr. West stormed the stage once again this year when Beyonce was overshadowed by grammy award winner Beck, who nothing but nice things to say about Mr. West.
Ye was also on stage for a rare performance with Rihanna and Legendary artist/musician Paul McCartney. They all sported black as they sang “FourFiveSeconds” Rihanna’s latest single which seems to be a instant hit with most.
Now between the commercial time and the short award presentations, I was distracted by the urge to feed my belly. Needless to say I got up and left the couch for a period of time and missed out on any of the lovely moments that we all love to witness. Like that moment when the camera snaps to someone who maybe the butt of a joke or someone who isn’t paying attention and the camera is showing everything they’re saying or doing.
For the most part what I saw from this year’s 57th annual Grammy’s was a bit of disappointment. It seemed like every artist performing was doing a ballad, a theme where some even had backup singers/dancers draped in church attire. Pharrell Williams performed his multiplatinum hit single “Happy” which really followed suit with the theme of the night.
Pharrell’s grammy version of “Happy” wasn’t as happy as the original visual. The outfit he wore was a bell hop but he had sparkling gold sneakers. Stylish (yes) but I would have to say the added pieces to his performance made this one a little tough to follow.
Every performance that I watched made me feel like the 57th annual grammy’s was taking me to church. I started to get the gospel vibe. Had I known that I was in-store for so many ballads I would’ve put on my sunday’s best.
As many genre’s that fill the lists of nominees, the most excitement to me was the red carpet. My great nephew Sebastian graced the red carpet in a money green suit and even made a cameo as an interviewer when he held the microphone for his father while being interviewed.
As always I wanted to see what the most beautiful stars were wearing (or not for that matter). Rihanna had a wild pink dress made by Giambattista Valli and most of the time she very stunning. Seeing Rihanna in this dress didn’t do it for me. I much rather have seen her in something less. Among the many other beautiful women, my sites are always set on seeing Katy Perry. Yes, Katy Perry is always on my watch list and she didn’t disappoint; The backless beaded frock showed every curve and gave everyone an eyeful of Ms. Katy Perry.
Overall I didn’t care for much more of the 57th Annual Grammy’s, it may have passed the eye test but my ears and attention weren’t locked in. I’m just happy to see the family enjoying themselves!
