Last week I got the opportunity to sit down and watch director Alex Garland’s newest film, “Ex Machina“. The Movie is quite an interesting watch to say the least. The movie is about a programmer, Caleb, played by Domhall Gleeson, Caleb is selected to participate in the experiment of a search engine creator named Nathan played by Oscar Isaac, Nathan has created a robot, a female A.I. (Artificial Intelligence) and wants to start some human testing. He decides he wants to bring in Caleb to test his A.I. and see if it can pass the test of seeming to truly have a human intelligence and human emotions. The movie is very cool as this type of technology isn’t very far off. Nathan lives in an awesome modern house run by technology that I can imagine Bill Gates’s house being similar to. The film does get a bit strange and far out at parts with the A.I.’s putting on and taking off skin like an accessory, this was rather chilling and dehumanizing to me. Overall I found the movie to be an awesome idea put to life by actors I didn’t know and I think it worked best that way. When the credits for “Ex Machina” started to roll I knew I had just watched a great piece of art that I would end up writing about.
