Josiah Hotwire releases his highly anticipated mixtape: Can’t Take Me Down

On February 24, 2015, Josiah Hotwire, a seasoned emcee from Harlem, New York, will be releasing his highly anticipated mixtape, entitled—Can’t Take Me Down (CTMD), a solid, 13-song intergalactic musical-journey featuring Philadelphia’s Freeway, battle-rap legend Loaded Lux, and a host of other notable names that helped to shape CTMD into a noteworthy project, one filled with an overabundance of dope lyrics and fresh beats.

Josiah, named after an ancient African King, holds CTMD down and represents for his city on the 90s inspired track, Rope Chain Music, produced by newcomer Red973, who’s dark and gloomy sounds, sautéed under Josiah’s grimy vocals, givesCTMD a unique hip-hop sound that once upon a time—distinguished New York from the rest of the world. When Josiah raps, “This that 1,000 dollars in ya project’s lobby/ blow all, rollin’ dice smoking hella Marley/ this that pissy project elevator, half broke/for them fiends bringing fiends when you selling dope,” gives listeners that underground-street feel that mentally brings them into a dark and sinister realm, a corrupted place where many of its inhabitants are forced to make bad decisions in order to survive.

But every dark and desolate place has light at the end of its tunnel, and Josiah—best known for his rich knowledge, wisdom and understanding, momentarily escapes reality’s stronghold and bares his soul on Moonshine, a conscience detour from Earth’s problems into the Milky Way Galaxy, also produced by Red973 featuring Sarah Frances Rose. It begins with Josiah reciting an inspirational gem, told to him by his mother, and that is to ‘shoot for the moon, and if you fail, at least you’ll be amongst the stars,’ and after listening to CTMD in its entirety, you will certainly agree that the little light within Josiah is indeed shining.

In life, it’s always wise to expect the unexpected, and when you look up at the night sky, you will see many stars shining—some brighter than others, but one thing is for sure, they are all shining, and somewhere inside that luminous congregation is Josiah Hotwire, illuminating the world with his CTMD mixtape, which is a constellation of songs that exemplifies the concepts of loving a life filled with pain, and conquering fear and oppression with the legendary God-energy of The King.CTMD will be an inspiration to many inner-city dwellers, people that can sympathize with Josiah’s struggle because they have also experienced the good and the bad aspects of living life in the ghetto, and even more important—CTMD will prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that it deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as other elite and dope hip-hop mixtapes.

Can’t Take Me Down by Josiah Hotwire will be available for download via iTunes and Datpiff.com.
